Chucks and Bow Ties – a versatile theme

Planning a party for little boys is always fascinating. Mostly because you never know how many characters they will try and combine into one birthday theme.

Our latest party, styled for a 10-year-old, I have to say was classic. Chucks and bow ties. Lavish Parties and Prints pulled out the shoestrings to make this a fun, unforgettable event.

We were feeling the colors selected by the birthday boy– lime green, cyan blue, black and white. Since this was all about Chuck Taylors and bow ties that’s where we headed. We added mini Chucks to display on the treat table and the backdrop.

The backdrop was created to look like a display wall in your typical shoe store.  We staggered the green and blue shoes and added in a few faux shoe boxes as well. Across the front of the table we hung color coordinated tissue tassels.

We carried the theme a little further with some crowd-pleasing sugar cookies. Yep. Shaped like Chucks, bow ties and the birthday boy’s first initial. We added some fun candies – Now and Laters, gumballs, Tootsie Rolls and Laffy Taffy sticks – and chocolate covered Rice Krispy treats, chocolate covered popcorn and apples.

But there wasn’t just one treat table at this bash. The second table spotlighted a single green Chuck surrounded by mini cupcakes. And because we do custom, we personalized the inserts on these travel mugs. Each guest took one home as a favor along with treats from the treat table.

We paired up with Blown Right Past Balloon Creations for the bow tie balloon centerpieces. She topped each bow tie with a slightly larger version of our mini Chucks. These were really attention grabbing atop the turquoise table toppers.

The balloon arch added another fun, colorful element to the DJ booth.

For the entertainment, guests enjoyed themselves taking silly photos in the photo booth.

This, for sure, was an All-Star event.
