“Prescription for Love” Bridal Shower

A while back I was asked to design a prescription pad invitation for a bridal shower. This time, however, that “prescription for love” would have more meaning for me. My sister is the bride-to-be!

Taking my cue from the phrase “something blue” and “prescription for love,” I designed and created several befitting toppers to use on the cake and centerpieces. Since the cake was going to be blue and white, I went with silver glitter for the cake toppers. An easy alternative for a bit of pop and bling without going overboard.

The other toppers I did in blue and used in the centerpieces. These were so easy. The hardest part was picking a favorite picture of the couple. But once it was done, we made several copies to size and inserted them into the vases. Then white silk roses were cut so they kissed the top of the vases and then we inserted the Rx (which by the way is wood).

Centered atop a circular mirror on a royal blue organza runner, the centerpiece was a beautiful reminder of the love being celebrated. We finished off the table with silver chargers and dressed the chairs with bands in royal blue.

Each table had a prescription card to go along with the theme of the shower.

Instead of seating the bride-to-be at the table with guests, we opted to give her a front seat – solo. But it was no ordinary seat. Her table, outfitted in royal blue organza with silver bling, sat in front of a fabulous backdrop of silver sequins and billowing white drapery.

The backdrop highlighted the glow on the bride-to-be’s face or maybe it was a blush after seeing the racy gift bags created for the shower. No explanation necessary, but a great muse for the “prescription for Date Night” each guest was asked to offer.

One additional thing that added a special touch to this shower was projecting the “Prescription for Love” on the wall behind the cake. It was just another way for us to show my sister some love.

What’s your prescription of love when planning events for family?
